Returning to the high school that he graduated from only a few years earlier, Zach Blend wrapped up his first season as middle school baseball coach at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School located outside Atlanta with a runner-up finish in the season ending tournament. For Zach it was a dream come true, “After graduating in 2002 I thought my days of baseball were behind me, when Holy Innocents’ offered me the opportunity to return to the school in a coaching capacity I was thrilled”. After a season of ups and downs the team finished on a high note having the opportunity to play for a league championship. “As a coach it’s remarkable to watch your players grow as ballplayers but more importantly young men, as much we as coaches attempted to teach the fundamentals of the game, I think our first priority was to build character, something that is sorely forgotten with this age group”. The staff at Goshen Valley congratulates Zach on a successful season and thanks him for his gracious gift of donating his coaching stipend back to the ministry. “Working with youth is something I feel called to do at this time in my life and I want to thank Goshen for giving me the opportunity to live out a dream of once again representing Holy Innocents’ on the baseball field”.
