2008 Nehemiah Project

Many of the boys of Goshen Valley Boys Ranch participated in the Nehemiah Project this week.  Reinhardt College was the home base for the week and all work was done within Cherokee County.

The vision of the Nehemiah Project is to foster a passion for godly service in the name of Jesus Christ.  By becoming the hands and feet of Christ, the youth experienced Jesus through direct service ministry.  In response to the awesome love of Jesus Christ in our lives, we are compelled to share and extend that love by serving others.

The Nehemiah Project was a 4-day event filled with daily worship, spiritual speakers and community service.  Three days of community service consisted of painting homes, re-roofing, and repair of porches and steps for elderly people in our community.

Each evening had awesome worship, inspirational speakers, and tons of fun.  It was an incredible experience for the youth!  The Nehemiah Project fosters the development of servants’ hearts, a love of work missions and a network of new friendships among local Christian youth groups.

Collins Home Place Gets New Life

This spring, 2008, the Goshen Valley Boys Ranch will be opening our new Development Office and Welcome Center. Our Development Staff will be located in the newly restored and remodeled Collins Home place. The Collins Family came to the site of the Goshen Valley Boys Ranch in the early 1830’s, when the first settlers came to the Salacoa Valley. Records indicate the current Collins Home place; now our Development Office and Welcome Center, was built in the 1850’s. While remodeled many times over the years, the original chimney and hearth remain today.

With our new facility, the Boys Ranch will continue to share our ministry with our many friends and supporters. Visitors to the Ranch will be able to see a video of Ranch life, as well as a video presentation of our Strategic Plan. Our Development staff looks forward to sharing our ministry vision with you…
