Our Programs
Goshen Valley Boys Ranch
Goshen Valley Boys Ranch is a home for 30 young men, ages 11–18 who are in the Georgia state foster care system.
Goshen Valley is a family-based model of care. There are 5 homes of 6 young men. Each young man who comes to the Ranch is cared for by a full-time house parent couple. Young men are surrounded with love and care through intentional relationships and programs that focus on hope and healing.
All young men at Goshen Valley participate in on-site weekly counseling, public school education, on-site tutoring, and are active in local youth groups.
The young men who call Goshen Valley home are focused both on their current healing and their future journeys. Goshen Valley promotes Forever Homes through family reunification, permanent adoption and transition into the surrounding community.
Hope House
North Georgia New Beginnings currently houses up to 5 young men ages 19–21 in the "Hope House." This is an off-campus environment with a pair of house parents. It is designed to foster freedom while still under the mentoring of the ranch.
Young men eligible for this program include any who have demonstrated they can begin living independently and have a desire to develop their life skills, values, faith and use of community resources needed to be successful in the "real world." Each young man has a commitment to secondary education, achieving and maintaining transportation, budgeting and learning how to live on his own.
The Hope House is a place that empowers and encourages the young men to practice these skills in an environment that is safe and uplifting. This ministry opportunity proves to highly equip older boys with the skills to become successful adults. We look forward to future participants who desire to 'age in' to adulthood and independence.
Goshen Valley Academy
Started in 2005, the Goshen Valley Academy began as an on-site summer camp for the young men living on the ranch. Since 2010, it has moved to a year-round academy, which includes after school tutoring, field trips and service opportunities during school holidays, and an intensive camp during the summer months.
Each year new opportunities for vision and leadership arise with program coordinators Zach Blend, Pastor Chip Buhler and Coach Dan Farnham. In addition to program leadership, Goshen Valley includes local college interns to help facilitate the academy and build relationships with the young men.
Each summer, young men are given the opportunity to work, participate in sports activities, grow spiritually, excel or catch up in academics and enjoy some time off!
Through the school years, the Goshen Valley Academy has increased the overall GPA of the ranch significantly. Tutors from the local community and those in partnership with Cherokee County School District through Title 1 funding provide a healthy and encouraging after school learning environment for the young men.
