Our new summer program...
We are excited to have 7 boys this summer participating in the TeenWork program. TeenWork is administered through the Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS). The program is designed to support First Lady Mary Perdue’s broader goal of ensuring that Georgia’s children are equipped with the tools and opportunities necessary to enable them to mature into well balanced, healthy, and productive members of society. Studies have found that youth who have employment opportunities and enriching experiences while in foster care are more likely to finish high school, maintain steady employment and become self-sufficient after exiting care. The young men on the Ranch will work through the months of June and July, with each boy working between 25-30 hours each week. We feel that the TeenWork program will provide a great experience for our young men and plays a vital role in our Independent Living Program here at Goshen.
Various companies in Cherokee and Pickens counties are partnering with the Ranch in the TeenWork program: Cherokee Outdoor YMCA, G. Cecil Pruett Community Center Family YMCA, Canton Tire and Wheel, Goshen Valley Boys Ranch and 61 Main St. in Jasper. We want to specially thank these companies for their generous support in providing job opportunities for our summer work program.
